Another year has passed and I am once again left speechless looking back at the time that flew by, the art that we made, the laughs that we had and the fun that we found. Pursuing my passion has caused me to spend a lot of time alone, working on my business and honing my craft. It has also caused me to spend a lot of time at events like concerts, festivals, photoshoots, fittings and fashion shows where there are so many people but never enough real, genuine, life affirming interactions.
And yet, despite all these factors, looking back at 2016 has me thinking about the incredible people I’ve gotten to meet and make art with over the last year and the course of my career; people from all over the world with such incredibly diverse talents, passions and skills.
I love being an artist, alone in the studio, with power tools whirring until the wee hours of the morning. What I never expected to love is the way that pursuing my passion has brought the most inspiring people into my life and even given them a really good reason to stay: collaboration. Creating art with people that inspire me has caused me to grow and evolve as an artist and a business woman, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be surrounded not only by professional success but personal integrity and humbling work ethics. Cheers to a new year, new collaborations, good friends with old souls.
